English translation

2220. Ibn 'Umar narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "In Thaqif there will be a great liar and destroyer." (Ṣaḥīh) [Abū 'Eisā said:] There is a narration on this topic from Asmā' bint Abū Bakr. (Another route with this chain) and this Hadīth is Ḥasan Gharīb as a narration of Ibn 'Umar. We do not know of it except through the report of Sharīk. And Sharīk would say: "Abdullāh bin 'Uṣm, while Isrā'īl would say: "Abdullāh bin 'Uṣmah." [Abū 'Eisā said:] It is said that the liar was Al-Mukhtār bin Abī 'Ubaid, and the destroyer was Al-Ḥajjāj bin Yūsuf. Abū Dāwūd Sulaimān bin Salm Al-Balkhī narrated to us: "An-Nadr bin Shumail narrated to us, from Hishām bin Ḥassān who said: 'They counted how many (people) did Al-Ḥajjāj killed indiscriminately, so it reached one hundred and twenty thousand murders.'"

٢٢٢٠ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ ‌شَرِيكِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ ‌عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُصْمٍ ، عَنِ ‌ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «فِي ثَقِيفٍ» كَذَّابٌ وَمُبِيرٌ. يُقَالُ: الْكَذَّابُ الْمُخْتَارُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ، وَالْمُبِيرُ الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ. حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سَلْمٍ الْبَلْخِيُّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ قَالَ: أَحْصَوْا مَا قَتَلَ الْحَجَّاجُ صَبْرًا فَبَلَغَ مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ وَعِشْرِينَ أَلْفَ قَتِيلٍ. وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ. ٢٢٢٠ (م) - حَدَّثَنَا ‌عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌شَرِيكٌ، نَحْوَهُ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ. وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ شَرِيكٍ،. وَشَرِيكٌ يَقُولُ: عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُصْمٍ، وَإِسْرَائِيلُ يَقُولُ: عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عِصْمَةَ.
