2392.b. Al-Miqdām bin Ma’dikarib narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “When one of you loves his brother, then let him inform him of it.” (Hasan) There are narrations on this topic from Abū Dharr and Anas. [Abū 'Eisā said:] The Hadīth of Al-Miqdām is a Hasan Ṣaḥīḥ Gharīb Hadīth. [Al-Miqdām's Kunyah is Abū Karīmah].
٢٣٩٢ - حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ثَوْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِذَا أَحَبَّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ فَلْيُعْلِمْهُ إِيَّاهُ». وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، وَأَنَسٍ. حَدِيثُ الْمِقْدَامِ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ، وَالْمِقْدَامُ يُكْنَى أَبَا كَرِيمَةَ.

Generally speaking, one-sided love is not long-lasting. It stands better chances of enduring if the other party is also informed of it, and it finds roots in his (or her) heart as well.
