English translation

2654. Ibn Kaʿb bin Mālik narrated from his father that he heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saying: "Whoever seeks knowledge to contend with the scholars, or to use it to argue with the fools, and to have the people's faces turn towards him, then he shall be admitted to the Fire." (Daʿif) [Abū ʿEisā said:] This Hadīth is Gharib, we do not know of it except from this route. Ishāq bin Yaḥyā bin Ṭalḥah is not that strong according to them (the scholars of Hadīth), he was criticized due to his memory.
