(3). 2957. 'Abdullāh bin 'Āmir bin Rabī'ah narrated from his father who said: "We were with the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ on a journey on a very dark night and we did not know where the Qiblah was. So each man among us prayed in his own direction. In the morning when we mentioned that to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, then the following was revealed: "So wherever you turn, there is the Face of Allāh."[1] (Da'if) Abū 'Eisā said: This Hadīth is [Hasan] Gharīb. We do not know of it except as a narration of Ash'ath As-Sammān Abū Ar-Rabi'ah from 'Ašim bin 'Ubaidullāh. And Ash'ath is weak in Hadīth.

Commentary

This Hadīth proves that if due to darkness, and it being overcast, or because of clouds, the prayer is performed unknowingly to a direction other than the Qiblah, then this prayer will be valid.
