English translation

(6). 3283. 'Abdur-Raḥmān bin Zaid narrated from 'Abdullāh (regarding th Āyah): The heart lied not in what he saw.[1] He said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saw Jibrīl in a Hullah[2] of Rafraṭ filling what is between the heavens and the earth." (Sahih)[Abū 'Eisā said:] This Hadīth is Hasan Sahih.

٣٢٨٣ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، ‌وَابْنُ أَبِي رِزْمَةَ ، عَنْ ‌إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ ‌أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ ‌عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ ‌عَبْدِ اللهِ «{مَا كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَى} قَالَ: رَأَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جِبْرِيلَ فِي حُلَّةٍ مِنْ رَفْرَفٍ قَدْ مَلَأَ مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ». هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

Commentary

Rafraf is a high quality and fine silk. "Finely made thin Dībāj" (Tuhfat Al-Aḥwadhī). Dībāj is a type of silk fabric.
