3380. Abū Hurairah [may Allāh be pleased with him] narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "No group gathers in a sitting in which they do not remember Allāh, nor send Salāt upon their Prophet, except it will be a source of remorse for them. If He wills, He will punish them, and if He wills, He will forgive them." (Sahīh) [Abū 'Eisā said:] This is a Ḥasan [Sahīh] Hadīth. It has been related from Abū Hurairah from the Prophet ﷺ, through more than one route.
٣٣٨٠ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ مَوْلَى التَّوْأَمَةِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَا جَلَسَ قَوْمٌ مَجْلِسًا لَمْ يَذْكُرُوا اللهَ فِيهِ»، وَلَمْ يُصَلُّوا عَلَى نَبِيِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانَ عَلَيْهِمْ تِرَةً، فَإِنْ شَاءَ عَذَّبَهُمْ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ غَفَرَ لَهُمْ. هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعْنَى قَوْلِهِ: تِرَةً، يَعْنِي: حَسْرَةً وَنَدَامَةً. وَقَالَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْمَعْرِفَةِ بِالْعَرَبِيَّةِ: التِّرَةُ هُوَ الثَّأْرُ.

An assembly of people where there is neither remembrance of Allāh ﷺ nor sending of Salāt upon the Prophet ﷺ, remains without the mercy of Allāh ﷺ. Such gatherings are harmful and they harden the hearts. Carelessness and negligence from the remembrance of Allāh ﷺ brings misfortune and afflictions.
