English translation

3496. 'Aishah said: "I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saying at his death: 'O Allāh, forgive me and have mercy on me, and join me with the Highest Company.'" (Sahih) [Abū 'Eisā said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.

Arabic text

٣٤٩٦ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌هَارُونُ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌عَبْدَةُ، عَنْ ‌هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ ‌عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ ‌عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: «سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ عِنْدَ وَفَاتِهِ: اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي»، وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالرَّفِيقِ الْأَعْلَى. هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

Commentary

This action of the Prophet ﷺ shows that everyone is in need of Allāh's forgiveness. The Prophet ﷺ asked Allāh's mercy for himself and educated the Muslims.
