3842. 'Abdur-Raḥmān bin Abū 'Umayrah narrated – and he was one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ – from the Prophet ﷺ, that he said to Mu'āwiyah: "O Allāh, make him a guiding one, guided, and guide (others) by him." (Sahīh)
٣٨٤٢ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمِيرَةَ، وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ «أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِمُعَاوِيَةَ:» اللَّهُمَّ، اجْعَلْهُ هَادِيًا مَهْدِيًّا، وَاهْدِ بِهِ. هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ.

Allāmah Al-Albānī has judged this narration as Sahīh. This supplication of the Prophet ﷺ is a great honor for Mu'āwiyah that people may get benefit from him and that he be a guide and leader.
