English translation

3843. Abū Idrīs Al-Khawlānī narrated: "When 'Umar bin Al-Khaṭṭāb removed 'Umayr bin Sa'd as governor of Hims, he appointed Mu'āwiyah. The people said: 'He has removed 'Umayr and appointed Mu'āwiyah.' So 'Umayr said: 'Do not mention Mu'āwiyah except with good, for indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saying: "O Allāh guide (others) by him." (Hasan) [Abū 'Eisā said: This Ḥadīth is Gharīb. He said: And 'Amr bin Wāqid was graded weak.]

٣٨٤٣ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌عَمْرُو بْنُ وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ ‌يُونُسَ بْنِ حَلْبَسٍ ، عَنْ ‌أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ قَالَ: «لَمَّا عَزَلَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ» عُمَيْرَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ عَنْ حِمْصَ وَلَّى مُعَاوِيَةَ، فَقَالَ النَّاسُ: عَزَلَ عُمَيْرًا وَوَلَّى مُعَاوِيَةَ، فَقَالَ ‌عُمَيْرٌ : لَا تَذْكُرُوا مُعَاوِيَةَ إِلَّا بِخَيْرٍ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِ بِهِ. هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ وَاقِدٍ يُضَعَّفُ.
