English translation

65. Ibn ‘Abbās narrated: “One of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ performed Ghusl with a bowl. Allāh’s Messenger wanted to perform Wudū’ with it, so she said: ‘O Messenger of Allāh! Indeed I am Junub.’[2] So he said: ‘Indeed, water does not become Junub.’”(Da’if) Abū ‘Eisā said: This Hadīth is Hasan Ṣaḥīḥ. It is the saying of Sufyān Ath-Thawrī, Mālik, and Ash-Shāfi‘ī.

٦٥ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ ‌سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ ‌عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ‌ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: «اغْتَسَلَ بَعْضُ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي جَفْنَةٍ»، فَأَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْهُ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي كُنْتُ جُنُبًا، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ الْمَاءَ لَا يُجْنِبُ. هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ. وَهُوَ قَوْلُ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ وَمَالِكٍ وَالشَّافِعِيِّ.
