English translation

698. 'Umar bin Al-Khaṭṭāb narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "When the night advances and the day retreats, and the sun is hidden, then the fast is to be broken." (He said:) There are narrations on this topic from Ibn Abī Awfā and Abū Sa'eed. (Ṣaḥīḥ) Abū 'Eisā said: The Hadīth of 'Umar is a Hasan Ṣaḥīḥ Hadīth.

٦٩٨ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ. (ح) وَحَدَّثَنَا ‌أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، عَنْ ‌أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ . (ح) وَحَدَّثَنَا ‌مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُثَنَّى ، عَنْ ‌عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ ، عَنْ ‌هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ ‌أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ ‌عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ ‌عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِذَا أَقْبَلَ اللَّيْلُ وَأَدْبَرَ النَّهَارُ وَغَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَدْ أَفْطَرْتَ». وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ. حَدِيثُ عُمَرَ حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ.
