English translation

819. Ibn 'Abbās narrated: "The Prophet ﷺ started the Talbiyah after the Ṣalāt." (Ḍa'if)

Arabic text

٨١٩ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ ‌خُصَيْفٍ ، عَنْ ‌سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ‌ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ «أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَهَلَّ فِي دُبُرِ الصَّلَاةِ». هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، لَا نَعْرِفُ أَحَدًا رَوَاهُ غَيْرَ عَبْدِ السَّلَامِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ. وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَسْتَحِبُّهُ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ؛ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ الرَّجُلُ فِي دُبُرِ الصَّلَاةِ.

Commentary

This narration is considered weak on account of Abdus-Salām's teacher Khusaif's weakness. In spite of this, scholars agree that the start of saying the Talbiyah after prayer is correct and lawful. [1] Meaning, he should begin the Talbiyah then, rather than when he mounts his ride to depart the Miqāt etc.
