941. Ibn 'Abbās narrated: “Dubā’ah bint Az-Zubair came tothe Prophet ﷺ and said: ‘OMessenger of Allāh! I want toperform Hajj so should I state acondition?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ Sheasked: ‘So how should I say it?’He said: ‘Say: “LabbaikAllāhumma labbaika mahilli minal-Ard haitu tahbisunī (I respond toYour call O Allāh, I respond toYour call, I will exit Iḥrām anywhere on the earth where Youprevent me.”) (Hasan) (He said:) There are narrations onthis topic from Jābir, Asmā’ (bintAbī Bakr), and ‘Aishah. Abū ‘Eisā said: The Hadīth of Ibn‘Abbās is a Hasan Ṣaḥīḥ Hadīth. Thisis acted upon according to some ofthe people of knowledge. They heldthe view that one could make acondition for Hajj, and they said thatif one makes a condition and is facedwith illness or an excuse, then heexits from his state of Iḥrām. This isthe view of Ash-Shāfi‘ī, Ahmad, andIshāq. Some of the people ofknowledge did not think one couldmake a condition during Hajj, andthey said if he were to make acondition, there is nothing for whichhe could exit from Iḥrām, so they seehim to be just like the one who didnot make a condition.
