English translation

1026. Ibn 'Abbās narrated: "The Prophet ﷺ recited Fāṭihatil-Kitāb for a funeral (prayer)." (Ḍa'if Jiddan) There is something on this topic from Umm Sharīk. Abū 'Eisā said: The chain for the Hadīth of Ibn 'Abbās is not that strong. Ibrāhīm bin 'Uthmān is Abū Shaibah Al-Wāsītī who is Munkar in Hadīth. What is Ṣaḥīḥ is that Ibn 'Abbās said: "The recitation of Fāṭihatil-Kitāb for the funeral (prayer) is from the Sunnah."

١٠٢٦ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌زَيْدُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنِ ‌الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ ‌مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنِ ‌ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ «أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَرَأَ عَلَى الْجِنَازَةِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ». وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أُمِّ شَرِيكٍ. حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَدِيثٌ لَيْسَ إِسْنَادُهُ بِذَاكَ الْقَوِيِّ، إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ هُوَ أَبُو شَيْبَةَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، مُنْكَرُ الْحَدِيثِ، وَالصَّحِيحُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: مِنَ السُّنَّةِ الْقِرَاءَةُ عَلَى الْجِنَازَةِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ.
