English translation
1035. Samurah bin Jundab narrated: "The Prophet ﷺ prayed over a woman, so he stood at her middle." (Ṣaḥīḥ) Abū 'Eisā said: This Hadith is Hasan Ṣaḥīḥ. Shu'bah reported it from Al-Ḥusain Al-Mu'allim.

١٠٣٥ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ «أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ» فَقَامَ وَسَطَهَا. هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ شُعْبَةُ عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ.

Commentary
According to this narration, the Imām while performing the funeral prayer on a male will stand parallel to the head of the deceased and in case of a female he will stand in the middle.
