English translation

1540. Sālim bin 'Abdullāh narrated from his father (Ibn 'Umar) who said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ often would swear with this oath: 'No! By the Changer of the Hearts.'" (Ṣaḥīḥ) [Abū 'Eisā said:] This Hadīth is Ḥasan Ṣaḥīḥ.

١٥٤٠ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ‌عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ‌وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ ‌مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ ‌سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ ، عَنْ ‌أَبِيهِ قَالَ: «كَثِيرًا مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَحْلِفُ بِهَذِهِ الْيَمِينِ لَا وَمُقَلِّبِ الْقُلُوبِ» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

Commentary

It is lawful to swear by Allāh's Names and Attributes. It is Allāh only Who changes the state of the heart and only He brings changes in the attitudes of people. (Al-Mughnī v. 13. p. 452-453.)
