Text and translation

English translation

1576. 'Ali narrated from the Prophet ﷺ, that Kisra sent him a gift so he accepted, and that kings gave him gifts and he accepted them. (Ḍa'if) There is something about this from Jābir. This is a Ḥasan Gharīb Ḥadīth. Thuwair (a narrator in the chain) is Ibn Abī Fākhitah, whose name was Sa'eed bin Ilāqah, and Thuwair's Kunyah was Abū Jahm.

Commentary

Gifts from non-Muslim kings and head of states can be accepted for diplomacy and to develop good relations to save the Muslims living near the borders. In the greater interest of Muslims it is allowed to accept gifts from non-Muslims.
