Commentary

Since there was a heavy rush around the well of Zamzam after circuiting the Ka'bah, and sitting was not easy, the Prophet ﷺ drank while standing in order to indicate that if it is not convenient or possible to sit down for drinking, one could drink while standing ('Aridat Al-Ahwadhi, v.8, p.74). As such, as far as Zamzam is concerned, it is an established Sunnah to drink it while standing.
