English translation

1923. Abū Hurairah narrated that Abul- Qāsim ﷺ said: "Mercy is not removed (from anyone) except from a wicked one." (Hasan) [He said:] As for Abū 'Uthmān, the one who reported it from Abū Hurairah, we do not know his name. It is said that he is the father of Mūsā bin Abī 'Uthmān, the one that Abū Az-Zinād reported from. Abū Az-Zinād reported other Aḥādīth from Mūsā bin Abī 'Uthmān, from his father, from Abū Hurairah, from the Prophet ﷺ. [Abū 'Eisā said:] This Ḥadīth is Hasan.

١٩٢٣ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ‌شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: كَتَبَ بِهِ إِلَيَّ ‌مَنْصُورٌ وَقَرَأْتُهُ عَلَيْهِ، سَمِعَ ‌أَبَا عُثْمَانَ مَوْلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ ‌أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَا تُنْزَعُ الرَّحْمَةُ إِلَّا مِنْ شَقِيٍّ» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ. وَأَبُو عُثْمَانَ الَّذِي رَوَى عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ لَا يُعْرَفُ اسْمُهُ، وَيُقَالُ هُوَ: وَالِدُ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ الَّذِي رَوَى عَنْهُ أَبُو الزِّنَادِ، وَقَدْ رَوَى أَبُو الزِّنَادِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَيْرَ حَدِيثٍ.

Commentary

The absence of the feeling of pity and mercy for others in the heart of a man only proves that he is wicked.
