Commentary

How can a man, whose very nature is built upon thanklessness and ingratitude, be grateful to Allāh? In other words, whoever is incapable of being grateful to the people, will never be really grateful to Allāh. Allāh will not, therefore, accept the thankfulness or gratitude of such a thankless person.
