2145. ‘Alī narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “A slave (of Allāh) shall not believe until he believes in four: The testimony of Lā Ilāha Illallāh, and that I am the Messenger of Allāh whom He sent with the Truth, and he believes in the death, and he believes in the Resurrection after death, and he believes in Al-Qadar.” (Hasan)

Commentary

The Hadīth narrated by ‘Ali رضي الله عنه is categorical on the point that not to believe in any one of the four things mentioned in the Hadīth is indicative of one’s disbelief. A person with this characteristic is not of the party of believers.
