English translation

2371. Anas bin Mālik narrated from Abū Ṭalḥah who said: "We complained to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ of hunger and we raised (our garments) from our stomachs (exposing) a stone (on each of us). So the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ raised (his garment exposing) two stones."[1] (Hasan) [Abū 'Eisā said:] This Hadīth is Gharīb, we do not know of it except from this route.

Commentary

Stones of right sizes if put on stomachs and firmed up with straps have, thanks to their cool temperature, the effect of alleviating the heat generated by hunger as well as of keeping straight the backs of the people.
