English translation

2385. Anas narrated that a man came to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allāh! When will the Hour be established?" So the Prophet ﷺ stood to perform Salāt, and when he was finished his Salāt he said: "Where is the one who asked when the Hour will be established?" The man said: "It was I, O Messenger of Allāh!" He said: "What have you prepared for it?" He said: "O Messenger of Allāh! I have not prepared very much of Salāt nor fasting for it, but I love Allāh and His Messenger." So the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "A man shall be with whomever he loves, and you shall be with whomever you love." So after the advent of Islām, I did not see that anything brought the Muslims more happiness than that. (Sahīh) [Abū 'Eisā said:] This Hadīth is Sahīh.

٢٣٨٥ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ‌إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ ‌حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ ‌أَنَسٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «جَاءَ رَجُلٌ» إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَتَى قِيَامُ السَّاعَةِ؟ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ، قَالَ: أَيْنَ السَّائِلُ عَنْ قِيَامِ السَّاعَةِ؟ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ: أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: مَا أَعْدَدْتَ لَهَا قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا أَعْدَدْتُ لَهَا كَبِيرَ صَلَاةٍ وَلَا صَوْمٍ إِلَّا أَنِّي أُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: الْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ، وَأَنْتَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ فَمَا رَأَيْتُ فَرِحَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ بَعْدَ الْإِسْلَامِ فَرَحَهُمْ بِهَذَا. هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
