English translation

2629. 'Abdullāh bin Mas'ūd narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "Indeed Islām began as something strange and it will return to being strange as it began. So Tūba is for the strangers." (Sahih) There are narrations on this topic from Sa'd, Ibn 'Umar, Jābir, Anas and 'Abdullāh bin 'Amr. [Abū 'Eisā said:] This Hadīth is Hasan Gharīb Sahih as a narration of Ibn Mas'ūd, and we only know of it as a narration of Hafṣ bin Ghiyāth from Al-'Amash. And Abū Al-Aḥḡwa's name is 'Awf bin Mālik bin Naḏlah Al-Jushamī (narrators in the chain), and Ḥafṣ was the only one who narrated it.
