2640. Abū Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “The Jews split into seventy-one sects, or seventy-two sects, and the Christians similarly, and my Ummah will split into seventy-three sects.” (Ḥasan) There are narrations on this topic from Sa’d, and ‘Abdullāh bin ‘Amr and ‘Awf bin Mālik. [Abū ‘Eisā said:] The Hadīth of Abū Hurairah is a Ḥasan Ṣaḥīḥ Hadīth.
٢٦٤٠ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ أَبُو عَمَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «تَفَرَّقَتِ الْيَهُودُ عَلَى إِحْدَى وَسَبْعِينَ فِرْقَةً أَوِ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَسَبْعِينَ فِرْقَةً،» وَالنَّصَارَى مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَتَفْتَرِقُ أُمَّتِي عَلَى ثَلَاثٍ وَسَبْعِينَ فِرْقَةً. وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ سَعْدٍ، وَعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، وَعَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ. حَدِيثُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
