(4). 3134. Ibn 'Abbās commented on Allāh, the Most High, saying: And We made not the vision which we showed you but a trial for mankind.[1] He said: "It is the vision he saw with his eyes, on the night the Prophet ﷺ was taken on the journey to Bait Al-Maqdis. And the accursed tree in the Qur'ān.[2] He said: "It is the Zaqqūm tree."(Sahīh) This Hadīth is Hasan Sahīh.

Commentary

The word 'Ru'yā' is used both for the observation of the eye and the vision in the dream. Ibn Abbās indicated by using the phrase 'the observation of eye' that the incident of Isrā' and Mirāj is not the vision of dream but in fact it is the observation of eye.
