English translation

3559. Abū Bakr narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "He who seeks forgiveness has not been persistent in sin, even if he does it seventy times in a day." (Hasan) [Abū 'Eisā said:] This Hadīth is Gharīb, we only know of it as a narration of Abū Nušairah, and its chain is not strong (a narration in the chain).

Commentary

Persistence in doing sins and never thinking about asking forgiveness from Allāh ﷻ is misfortunate and a sign of great wretchedness. But whoever seeks Allāh's forgiveness sincerely after doing a sin, he is not persistent in doing sins, even if he commits the sin again and asks forgiveness. Allāh ﷻ may forgive him.
