3744. 'Alī bin Abī Tālib [may Allāh be pleased with him] narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "Indeed, every Prophet has a Hawārī, and my Hawārī is Az-Zubair bin Al-'Awwām." (Ḥasan) [Abū 'Eisā said:] This Ḥadīth is Ḥasan Ṣaḥīḥ. And it is said: "A Hawārī is a helper." [I heard Ibn Abī 'Umar say: "Sufyān bin 'Uyainah said: 'A Hawārī is a helper.'"]
٣٧٤٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ زِرٍّ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ حَوَارِيًّا»، وَإِنَّ حَوَارِيِّي الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ. وَيُقَالُ: الْحَوَارِيُّ هُوَ النَّاصِرُ.

On the occasion of the 'Battle of Ahzāb' the Prophet ﷺ sent Az-Zubair to check the conditions and situation of Banū Quraizah whether they still are with the Muslims or they have breached the treaty and have joined the enemy. The title of 'Hawari' was conferred on him on this occasion.
