3836. Al-Walīd bin 'Abdur-Raḥmān narrated that Ibn 'Umar said to Abū Hurairah: "You used to stick to the Messenger of Allāh most out of all of us, and you used to best memorize his Aḥādīth out of us." (Ṣaḥīḥ) [Abū 'Eisā said:] This Ḥadīth is Ḥasan.
٣٨٣٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ: «يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنْتَ كُنْتَ أَلْزَمَنَا لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَحْفَظَنَا لِحَدِيثِهِ». هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ.

In this narration 'Abdullāh bin 'Umar admits that Abū Hurairah actually spent more time with the Prophet ﷺ than others, and Abū Hurairah himself claims this. For this reason, he remembers greater number of Aḥādīth than anyone else, and it is true.
