English translation

3938. Anas said: "If we are not from Al-Azd then we are not from the people." (Sahīh) Abū 'Eisā said: This Hadīth is Hasan Ṣahīh Gharib.

Arabic text

٣٩٣٨ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌عَبْدُ الْقُدُّوسِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌مَهْدِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي ‌غَيْلَانُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ‌أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ: «إِنْ لَمْ نَكُنْ مِنَ الْأَزْدِ فَلَسْنَا مِنَ النَّاسِ». هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ (١).
