Text and translation

English translation

863. Ibn 'Abbās narrated: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ only performed the Saṭ[1] of the House and of Aṣ-Ṣafā and Al-Marwah to show his strength to the idolaters." (Saḥīḥ) He said: There are narrations on this topic from 'Aishah, Ibn 'Umar, and Jābir. Abū 'Eisā said: The Hadīth of Ibn 'Abbās is a Hasan Ṣaḥīḥ Hadīth. This is what is recommended according to the people of knowledge; one performs Sa'ī quickly between Aṣ-Ṣafā and Al-Marwah. If one is not able, and he walks between Aṣ-Ṣafā and Al-Marwah, then they consider it acceptable.
