English translation

2072. It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ swore to keep away from his wives and declared them as unlawful for him, so he made something permissible forbidden, and he offered expiation for having sworn to do so." (Da'if)

Commentary

The Statement of Allāh Almighty with respect to oath is: "Its expiation is to feed ten poor persons, on a scale of that with which you would feed your own families, or to clothe them, or to set free a slave. But whosoever cannot afford (that), then he should fast for three days." (Al-Mā'idah: 89).
