English translation

[7105] 66 - (2813) It was narrated that Jâbir said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: "The throne of Iblâs is upon the sea, and he sends out his troops to tempt the people, and the greatest of them in his view is the one who causes the greatest amount of Fitnah (tribulation or temptation)."

٦٦ - (٢٨١٣) حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة و إسحاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ (قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنَا. وقَالَ عُثْمَانُ: حَدَّثَنَا) جَرِيرٌ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ. قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى الله عليه وسلم يقول "إن عرش إبليس على البحر. فيبعث سراياه فيفتنون الناس. فأعظمهم عنده أعظمهم فتنة".
